Interested in becoming a monk?
"Let us open our eyes to the divine light." (from the Prologue to The Rule of Saint Benedict)
Do you think you might have a calling to the monastic way of life?
Our Lord and Saviour said, “I came that they might have life and have it abundantly”. Our monastery is about fullness of life in Christ. Monastic life has its discipline, inspired by the Gospel, but this is to remove hindrances to joy. This joy is the joy of God Himself, which nothing can touch.
If you are interested, you are welcome to come to stay in the guesthouse to get a sense of our life. We also offer Monastic Experience Weekends. See details here.
You can contact the novice master at firstname.lastname@example.org or, just to stay in the guesthouse, the guest master at email@example.com. The postal address is Quarr Abbey, Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 4ES. We should be pleased to tell you more about our way of life.
Some requirements for joining:
- to be a practising catholic of at least two years standing
- to visit Quarr Abbey guesthouse on several occasions, for a preliminary discernment of your vocation
- there is no age-limit, but good health and psychological balance are important.
