Society of Painters in Water-Mixable Oils
The Society was officially launched on 25th of February 2020 from right here on the Isle of Wight by Murray Ince. Murray wanted to create a society for all those who worked in the much misunderstood, and even maligned medium. Unlike traditional oils no mineral spirits are required in their use, instead simple tap water can be used to thin paint and clean up afterwards making it far more eco-friendly than traditional oil paints. The Society is a learning platform, a place for encouragement, an online presence for viewing art created in this wonderful medium and is a membership driven entity of both amateurs and professional artists who wish to share the truth about, and joy of working in this liberating medium.
This exhibition is the very first ever staged by the Society and as it all began here on the Island it is fitting that the first exhibition should be here at Quarr Abbey and represented by some of the Society’s founding members. We hope you enjoy looking at the paintings!
