Quarr Abbey Steps - Cream

Customers in wheelchairs are very welcome at the abbey, and our staff will always provide assistance whenever possible. Please remember that some areas of the abbey grounds will be uneven underfoot. Please get in touch in advance of your visit if you have any questions or specific requirements.

A limited number of accessible car parking spaces are available on a first come, first served basis. These are located closest to the entrance/exit towards the abbey. Access to the abbey from our main car park over gravel and is suitable for wheelchair users.

There is wheelchair access to our tearoom, shop, visitor centre, Abbey church and guest house. As it is a historic building there are a number of steps and narrow corridors. Where possible ramp access should be available at many of these points.

We have two accessible toilets within Quarr Abbey. They are located at the Tea Room (which is in the grounds of the Abbey) and in the courtyard area next to the Visitor Centre. Please contact us in advance if you have further inquiries or would like to discuss your visit in advance.

Throughout your visit if there is anyway we can accommodate you to make your time with us more enjoyable, please get in touch with us.

Easter Message 2026

Easter at Quarr is a good season to learn again that
Flowers open after winter months of apparent death,
Birds sing joyfully as they build new nests for their little ones to come,
Lambs gamble and bleat in the meadows.
Even roads reopen (!) giving access to visitors old and new – all welcome!

Will our hearts open, too,
To make peace after conflicts and wars
To forgive after disputes
To foster every human life from its conception to its natural end,
To bring a smile of hope on all faces around?

“Christ is risen from the dead.”
Happy Easter to you all!
