Oblates

Quarr Abbey Steps - Cream

Oblates are men and women who wish to live their lives in the spirit of the Rule of St Benedict, in fellowship with the monks of our community and with each other.

Oblates make a serious lifetime commitment to live a simple rule of life, but by that life commitment they are able to experience the joy and peace of being members of our monastic family. There are regular Oblates meetings, and the Oblates are seeking to develop among themselves a greater sense of community of prayer and fellowship.

To be an Oblate is a serious step, but it is one that can bring great joy in the Lord.

Easter Message 2026

Easter at Quarr is a good season to learn again that
Flowers open after winter months of apparent death,
Birds sing joyfully as they build new nests for their little ones to come,
Lambs gamble and bleat in the meadows.
Even roads reopen (!) giving access to visitors old and new – all welcome!

Will our hearts open, too,
To make peace after conflicts and wars
To forgive after disputes
To foster every human life from its conception to its natural end,
To bring a smile of hope on all faces around?

“Christ is risen from the dead.”
Happy Easter to you all!
