“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.” (Is 6:3)
Today, God’s holiness is revealed to us on the Cross.
We have just heard the narrative of Jesus’ crucifixion.
We shall very soon venerate and adore the Holy Cross.
Afterwards, we shall communicate with the fruit of the tree of the Cross through Holy Communion.
The Cross is the Pulpit where Truth is proclaimed.
It is the altar where the Victim is sacrificed.
It is the Couch where the nuptial bond between Christ and His Church is consummated.
It is the Throne of our God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Holy is the crucified Body of Christ.
Holy is His loving and patient suffering.
Holy is the breath of life which Jesus gave up after He bowed His head (Jn 19:30).
Holy is the Son dying on the Cross because He loved us to the end (Jn 13:1).
Holy is the Father who so loved the world that he gave His only Son (Jn 3:16).
Holy is their common Spirit of love in Whom they are one in the same gift of life.
Holy is God who saves us by the Cross.
Holy and strong is the love of the Father and the Son for all us sinners
Holy and immortal is the love of the Heart of Jesus, pierced by the spear and pouring out blood and water for our sanctification (Jn 19:34).
Holy is the Crucified God who alone makes us holy.
Holy and strong is the Crucified King who draws all to Himself (Jn 12:32) and quenches our thirst for redemption.
Holy and immortal is the Crucified Lord who loved us and gave Himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God (Eph 5:2).
Holy is your Cross, O Jesus, in all your brothers and sisters, the martyrs of the persecuted Church of our time and the innocent victims of unjust wars.
Holy and strong is your Cross, O Jesus, in all your brothers and sisters who are suffering in their souls and in their bodies, in their minds and in their hearts.
Holy and immortal is your Cross, O Jesus, in the prayers and the lives of all your saints, in the unceasing praise of the angels and the archangels, of the Cherubim and Seraphim, who unceasingly adore and praise you:
